VLC Setup – HTTP Lua Password

For VLC version 2.1.0 and later

The security has changed for remote access from remote controls.   VLC requires that a password must be configured

If you receive this error:

Password for Web interface has not been set.
Please use --http-password, or set a password in
Preferences > All > Main interfaces > Lua > Lua HTTP > Password.

Resolution:

• Enter a non-empty password in VLC  > Preferences > All > Main interfaces > Lua > Lua HTTP > Password
• Restart VLC
