If you are using an older version please upgrade via the Apple App Store.
Issue: Host is discovered, but when <hostname>.local is used, the message “Waiting for VLC on <hostname>.local.:8080” is displayed.
Resolution: The host does not have Apple Bonjour or iTunes installed, and the iPhone cannot resolve this address. Change to use the IP address.
Issue: Host not discovered
Possible reason: Multiple instances of VLC is running on the host. Close all instances, and start only one.
Possible reason: Firewall on host is blocking VLC. Check firewall rules. Ask your technical support to assist.
Possible reason: Another service is already running on same port as VLC. Ask your technical support to assist.
Possible reason: VLC not configured for Web (HTTP) control.

Issue: I have used the host configuration tool, restarted VLC, but the App does not discover VLC host.
Possible reason: Firewall on host is most likely blocking VLC. Ask your technical support to assist. Add VLC media player to allowed programs and ensure for Home/Work network. Restart VLC media player after any changes to the firewall.
