Kodi.tv
must be installed on some computer or device on your network and must be running before you continue.

On Kodi set the following:

Kodi (v17 – Krypton) – Settings level=Standard

System > Service Settings > Control > Web server > Allow remote control via HTTP > Enabledsd_screenshot32
System > Service Settings > Control > Web server > Port > 8080
(use 8080 or specific port advised by your technical support, For Raspberry or OpenElec you can use 80)
System > Service Settings > Control > Web server > Username> kodi
System > Service Settings > Control > Web server > Password> leave empty
System > Service Settings > Control > Application Control> Allow remote control from applications on this system > Enabled
System > Service Settings > Control > Application Control> Allow remote control from applications on other system > Enabled
System > Service Settings > General > Zeroconf > Announce services to other systems > Enabledsd_screenshot32

(If this option is missing you likely have an Android box/device. Kodi v17 on Android does not have Zeroconf support (it was removed – please ask on the Kodi forum to reinstate this functionality).   This is a Kodi issue, not the remote.  The Sybu Remote will not be able to automatically discover Kodi,  please manually setup as explained in section ‘If Sybu App does not automatically find Kodi‘)

  • Close Kodi,  – Restart Kodi after these changes
  • If Kodi is on Windows, Restart Windows, then start Kodi again.
  • If Kodi is on an Android Device, Restart the device, then start Kodi again.

Kodi (v12 – v16)  – Settings level=Standard

System > Settings > Services > WebserverAllow control of Kodi via HTTP > Enabled
System > Settings >  Services > Webserver > Port  > 8080
(use 8080 or specific port advised by your technical support, For Raspberry or OpenElec you can use 80)
System > Settings >  Services > Webserver > Username > kodi
System > Settings >  Services > Webserver > Password> leave empty
System > Settings > Services > Remote Control > Allow remote control by programs on this system > Enabled
System > Settings > Services > Remote Control > Allow remote control by programs on other systems > Enabled
System > Settings > Services  >  Zeroconf > Announce these services to other systems via Zeroconf > Enabled
  • Close Kodi,  – Restart Kodi after these changes
  • If Kodi is on Windows, Restart Windows, then start Kodi again.
  • If Kodi is on an Android Device, Restart the device, then start Kodi again.

Firewall

If prompted allow Kodi  through the firewall.

On Sybu App

  • Touch i in top right corner to launch the setup screen.
  • For Automatic host configuration. Touch Discover Hosts to automatically find any Kodi hosts on the network. Select the specific host from the list.
    This completes the setup.
If you want to use a specific username or password in Kodi, configure these as per Manual host configuration instructions below.

If Sybu App does not automatically find Kodi

Some Windows Desktops and some Android devices cannot automatically discover Kodi by default.   Use the manual setup below. (To allow Windows to be autodiscovered by the iPhone/iPad install iTunes or read Zeroconf section below)

  • Touch i in top right corner to launch the setup screen.
  • Hostname:  IP address of Kodi desktop or device
v17: Kodi IP address: Kodi Main Menu > SYSTEM > System Info > Summary > IP address
v12-v16: Kodi IP address: Kodi Main Menu > SYSTEM > System Info > IP address
  • Port: typically 8080. As configured in Kodi Setup
  • Username: Default is kodi
  • Password:  Optional.  Leave empty.  Or set as configured in Kodi  Setup

Zeroconf – auto discovery

If you receive a warning 'Failed to start zeroconf' consider installing a Zeroconf service for your operating system. This will allow the iPhone to find the Kodi host on its name. If it is a Windows Desktop/Laptop I suggest you install iTunes.
